Månsken över Vänern

Månsken över Vänern translates to Moonlight across Vänern. Vänern is the largest lake in Sweden, said to hold over 20,000 islands. But out towards the middle you see none of them, and no coastline. From there, it becomes an ocean.

I have taken the same boat trip since I was a child. Down the river from a farm outside Karlstad where my family has spent summers for as long as I can remember. Out to where the river ends and the lake opens. This painting is that view.
